What a mess aims to explore the untapped narrative potential of the urban fabric, and its place in the digital representation of cities.
It brings together the outcomes of a series of walkshops during which participants were invited to 3D scan elements of the public space. Each set of captures (or specimens) were then contracted into aggregates, semi-living phygital entities, documented in the web archive and in the installation.
Through close inspection of each aggregate, the 3D surfaces are revealed that constitute them both as they were captured and as they were integrated into new narrative environments.
What a Mess is a project developed at V2_Lab for the Unstable Media as part of the Realities In Transition residencies, 2023.
