Two immersive performances were organised as case studies within the framework of the ReInHerit project, funded by Horizon 2020 (https://www.reinherit.eu), which is an international project focused on promoting a digital ecosystem connecting cultural heritage collections and sites, to present Europe’s tangible and intangible heritage to citizens and tourists in its wider historical and geographical contexts. The performances are meant to be used as templates for developing similar projects shaped by cultural heritage sites, and in turn, help organizers attract wider audiences. They were planned, developed, and realised in parallel to the setup of the ReInHerit Digital Hub, a digital platform, in which all key stakeholders (including museums) will have an open and collaborative space to experiment, share, co-create and innovate.
A diverse group of professionals joined forces to create this project, resulting in an interdisciplinary performance that invited its audience to take initiative in shaping their experience of the event, while exploring digital and physical exhibits and the space hosting them. The talk will discuss information concerning the creative process and development of the performances, target audiences, a bespoke smartphone application, sound installations and music improvisation, combinations of visual elements, pre-show and post-show engagement, accessibility, impact, and audience reception.
