DESCRIPTION

Resonating Absence is inspired by a feeling defined by the untranslatable word “Awumbuk.” It refers to the melancholy and sense of emptiness that lingers after a guest is gone. The work reflects on the fragility of interpersonal relationships, metaphorically representing through the movement of water the state of inner turmoil through which an individual experiences emotionally the absence of a loved one. The presence and movement of the spectators are detected by the work and transformed into a vibration that puts the water in a state of agitation, only to return, once left alone, to a state of silent stagnation.
